And I think I've picked out the grout color. Not doing the same color as the other bathroom, because the wall color isn't exactly the same. But it's all very close.

We were told that the project will take at least 6 weeks. We are in week 4, and things are moving along nicely. Except for some set backs that we have no control over, we're doing well.
The kitchen counter slabs (caesarstone Absolute Noir) showed up totally scratched up, and were rejected by the people we ordered them through. New slabs are due to arrive on Thursday. The dishwasher was supposed to be in-stock, but somehow wasn't... Was delayed a month, and is due to be delivered on the 15th. Not much longer! And the bathroom hardware is not in stock (doesn't say that on the website), and won't be available until the END OF JULY. Bah. Not happy about that one. But I am happy about this: And this: And also this: Estimated day of kitchen counter completion is Monday or Tuesday of next week! I might have a working kitchen by the middle of next week!! Oh thankgoodnessandstuff, I am tired of not being able to cook. This is gettin' gooood

Har har har. The bathtub has been framed, and the tub has been placed. Now I have to find someone to bullnose the tile, and the tiling can get done. Meanwhile, the kitchen will get painted tomorrow, and the hardwood floor will go in the kitchen shortly after. By the end of the week, kitchen cabinets will start to be installed. So exciting! 2 of 4 coats done!

We've asked for a smooth finish on the drywall, which takes more time and effort. The contractor estimated that it will take 4 coats of mud to achieve the smooth finish we want. As of this morning, we're done with 2 coats. Yay! They're working today, and will be back on Monday to hopefully put on the last coat. Then I bet on Tuesday they'll sand and assess the situation. We are hoping to have a kitchen floor soon after that. That's when things will look like they're progressing. Up until now it's only been the underbelly of the house - new plumbing, new wires, etc. Nothing shiny and pretty to look at.
But having done mudding myself before, this stuff still manages to excite us. Drywall mudding has begun

And I hate this part. This is by far the dirtiest part. The whole house has a layer of thin white dust on it, and I am miserable. No, I don't have allergies, I just hate things to be perpetually dirty. And they will be for the next few days. Thankfully, the contractor wants to work Saturday and Monday, and possibly Sunday. So this phase should be done by early next week. I hope I hope I hope.
Next after this: the kitchen floor. |
