Fence!
@ 10:29 PM

The day started with LOTS of screws. I would not be surprised if there were a 1000 of them.

Then all of the 1 x s were ready (pronounced 1by-s).

And then all of the lattice went up really quickly. We thought we would stop there, it was such a hot weekend... but our neighbor Fred brought in some late day energy which we desperately needed, and ...

Look at that! Liam's working on the fence boards in the side yard. If you scroll down to an older post you may see what the old side yard used to look like. There was a trench, it was open, lots of mud, yuck. Oh, and a really old very short fence.

Now this is where we stand. The side yard fence is nearly 100% done (which is the longest side of yard), and we've got everything pre-drilled and ready to go for the rest of the fence. The plan is to finish it in the evenings all this week. It's going to look amazing.

First, they came and hung up the drywall.

Then the drywall was all up.

And now this is how things look. The taping was done a couple of days ago, and today the first coat of mudding was done. There will be at least one more coat of mudding, and probably a skim coat. We want a smooth finish on the walls, so there will be lots and lots of sanding. Which means lots and lots of dust. Joy.
Fence posts are all in
@ 11:15 AM

A couple of days ago Liam took a day off from work, and hired a couple of assistants to help him place the fence posts in the ground. They really look awesome. Instead of doing the city's minimum requirement of 4x4 sized posts, we opted for 6x6 for a more substantial look.

When our fence is done, it'll look like that! That's our neighbor's back fence, and we're all doing the same fence style and size.

Tasha is pissed. Tasha and Moose have been stuck in the garage for a few days, during daytime hours, when our contractors are SUPPOSED to be working on the new bathroom. They've missed a few days already, and we're starting to get annoyed at them. As you can see, Tasha reached annoyed days ago.
All concrete is gone

We're getting a couple of bids for the stone work this week. We've priced out the flagstone that we want, and estimated the square footage. Now we wait.

Meanwhile, the fence is all gone, and there are deep holes around the property waiting for posts which we've ordered and will go in this Thursday. The new fence will look awesome. Our neighbor, Fred, already has one side of his up, and we're all doing the same style of fence - 6 feet tall plus 1 foot of privacy lattice. Super sturdy and beautiful.

In the master bathroom is major progress. Drywall is going up right now. As I'm typing. It's awesome. We passed shower pan inspection this morning, and we have greenboard inspection tomorrow morning. All mudding should be done by the end of this week.

More pictures to come later this week!

Not much to see here, but it sure was cool to see live. Baby was moving and wiggling a lot.

We passed inspection!
@ 10:27 PM
After what seems like an eternity of no progress on the addition, we're finally moving again. We had our first inspection in nearly 6 months (I hand't realized how long it had been) and we passed with no problems. The next step is finishing up the sewer line connection, and ordering the roof vent and insulation for the vaulted ceilings in the bathroom. I'll post a pic of the infamous trench shortly so that those who haven't seen it can get some sort of understanding of what I'm talking about.

We're back!
@ 6:34 AM
After what probably seems like an ice-age, I've finally managed to rebuild our server, and we're back online.

I've got a busy weekend ahead of me, but I hope to do some more tweaks and adjustments on the server, and hopefully get some fresh content up before the end of the week.

Check back in real soon, and we should have something worth visiting for.
