She's clearly ignoring her bunny. I'm hoping this bunny becomes her lovey. They say love is mostly proximity. Maybe if the bunny is around enough, he'll become her lovey. That's the plan. We're back and there's 4 of us!

Our blog is back in action!
I have a lot of catching up to do, and I'll start by sharing a couple of Lena's pictures from her first day with us. These were taken at the hospital by Jojo (of course!). Recent downtime

I apologize for the recent lack of posts and downtime. We've recently switched internet providers, and moved the blog to a new server. I've rewritten the blog software as well, which explains the reduced features for the time being. Expect improvements to roll in slowly during the coming weeks. We should be back to posting regular updates shortly.
Gray's 3rd birthday party
Aug 16, 2009
@ 11:44 AM
We had a bouncy house - a castle!
And two birthday cakes - one almond and one chocolate. And 10 lbs of chicken drummets, which were ALL eaten! It was a lot of fun, and we were so happy that everyone could come. Thanks!! You guys made it a very memorable birthday party! ![]() ![]() ![]() Happy birthday our big boy!

My Safta (my mom's mom) was not raised as a Jewish girl. She grew up in Berlin, pre-WW2, and celebrated Christmas. One of her parents was not Jewish, and considering the sentiment around Europe at the time, that was the right decision for her family.
Years later, she is living in Israel, as a Jewish woman, and she now has two children. She wanted to incorporate her childhood memories into her kids' lives, but celebrating Christmas wasn't appropriate. A new tradition in our family was born! Every birthday morning we would wake up to a plate full of special sweet treats, and our gifts. As we got older and wiser, we woke up earlier and earlier. We'd tear open the presents in the dark, shove candies into our mouths, and go back to sleep. Today we did the same for Gray. He came into our bedroom at around 7:20, with a gift (still wrapped) in his hands, and asked us in the most incredulous voice "what iiiiis it?". Happy birthday Gray!! No one thought that I was pregnant at work unless I told them, when I was pregnant with Gray, until I was about 6 months along. This time around I thought that my body would know what to do and pop earlier.
Who doesn't want that happy joyous attention that pregnant women get? Well, nope. This is me at 15 weeks, 3 days. ![]() ![]() Gray won't let me take his picture anymore

Here he is, about to start crying because I wanted to take his picture.
I'm hoping he grows out of this phase soon. ![]() ![]() Our trip to Dizzyland!
Aug 1, 2009
@ 1:23 PM
This past week the Benelis went to Dizzyland. We stayed at a nearby hotel for two nights, and enjoyed the park for two days. It was really great to see the little ones' faces light up, although it sure was exhausting chasing after Gray who wanted to wander the park by himself. I'm still sore from all of the running, and carrying, and dehydration. But it was a once in a lifetime, and well worth it.
Here are some highlights of the trip: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Passing the evenings away

Liam has been taking a summer class in the evenings, so from about 5:30 to 8:30, four nights a week, it's just Gray and me alone. This past week was warm enough that we set up the little wading pool for Gray in the backyard. Here are some fun pictures I took of the adventure:
